Just a reminder: School doors are locked until 8:45am. Students will have 10 minutes to get ready for their first class and grab something from the Breakfast Program if they like. At 8:55 am they should be in their classes, ready to learn. If your child arrives after 8:55 am, they are late and will need to report to the office so their attendance can be updated.
Please feel free to call or come into the school if you have any questions or concerns!
Please check the school calendar on this website for all the happenings at Manachaban.
]]>My name is Stacie Kloot and I am the homeroom teacher for 5.1 FI. I also teach English to 5.2 FI and Art to some Grade 6 classes.I attended Memorial University of Newfoundland, where I received my B.A. major in French and minor in business. I then went to the University of Lethbridge to obtain my B.Ed. Prior to joining Manachaban's Grade 5 team last year, I taught Grade 1,2, and 3.
I am so happy to have your child as a student. Fifth grade is such a fun year with so many wonderful learning activities to celebrate. In order to have a fun year, my most important goal is to create a family of learners in my classroom. I am committed to creating a classroom environment where your child is a valued, trusted, and integral part of our family of learners. In order to accomplish this, I have planned a variety of activities to emphasize and reinforce this goal. It is my hope that you will support and encourage this vision at home.
I don’t give homework just for the sake of homework; however, any work that isn’t completed in a reasonable amount of class time will be given as homework. I also encourage daily reading at home and daily pratice with sight words, multiplication facts, and division facts. . Any student who does not complete assigned projects or work in class (without asking for an extension) will be asked to complete it as homework. If it still is not finish, they will have to either finish the work at lunch or in the office.
Information about 5.1 FI can be found on our Google Classroom. Information on how to access this classroom will be sent out in one of our e-mail updates in September. If you are having difficulty access the classroom, please reach out and I will try my best to assist you. Information for English 5.2 will be posted to their own Google Classroom and assignments for Art will be completed in class. The link for the 5.1 FI Google Classroom is here: https://classroom.google.com/u/1/c/NTQ0NzA0Mjg0NjMz. Alternatively, the class code is ezwexq7.
I welcome and value parent involvement throughout the year. I would love to hear from you, and you are welcome to contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns you may have. My preferred method of communication is e-mail, however I do welcome phone calls as well.
Merci beaucoup!
Mme Kloot
]]>Ecole Manachaban Middle School is an allergy-aware school. We are sensitive to the needs of all students and staff with allergies. However, we cannot be absolutely certain that all food products brought into our lunch rooms or classrooms are free of potential allergens. While we make an effort to keep students and staff from being exposed to allergens, we cannot guarantee it will never occur.
Being Allergy Aware means we are:
If a student has a severe food allergy, it is strongly advised that the parents and/or guardians of the student contact the office at the beginning of the school year so that an alternative eating area can be provided. If your child carries an Epi-Pen, an up-to-date prescription and a signed medication administration authorization form should be submitted to the front office for emergency use.
