Calgary's 2019 Pride Parade

For the second year, a group of students, parents, and staff members from Manachaban marched in the Calgary Pride Parade the weekend before school started.  This year, we had more than 25 people marching together!

Tie-Dye Party!

Because rainbows are great and because tie-dye is fun, several members of our GSA got together after school one day in April and decorated our shirts.  It was a great opportunity for our students to hang out together, make some beautiful things, and enjoy the sunshine!

2018 Alberta GSA Conference

On Saturday, November 17th, a delegation of seven students and two staff members attended the 7th annual GSA Conference in Edmonton.

At the conference, we were able to listen to keynote speakers and attend workshops that allowed us to connect with students and staff from GSAs all over Alberta.

Calgary's 2018 Pride Parade

Over the Labour Day weekend, Calgary-area GSAs were invited to march in the Calgary Pride Parade as the parade marshalls.

Manachaban's GSA was represented by three students, two staff members, and a parent.  There were several other Manachaban students and parents marching with other groups as part of the Pride Parade and many of us got together at the end to hang out.

2017 GSA Conference

In November of 2017, a delegation of three students and two staff members attended the 6th annual GSA Conference in Calgary.  It was our first time attending the conference and it was a great experience.  There were several keynote speakers, and then we attended various sessions throughout the day.  For example, our first session was about making good friendship choices and being in safe and trusting relationships.  Our second session was about how to run a GSA in a middle-school setting, and our third session was about different ways that we can experience nature and express ourselves artistically.
