April updates

April 28

Homework for the week-end: (mostly for those students who were absent today ….)

LA:  write a “formula poem” – the formula is on google classroom-LA-Poetry …. Formula poem instructions

Most students have completed this – those students absent will need to do this.

SCI:  today we reviewed the Ray diagram and how the image in the “camera and eye” activity (page 212 – science text) was inverted.  Students took notes on the concave vs convex lens.  Monday we will have a class presentation on the eye – if those students who were absent today can look at convex and concave lenses – and the parts of the eye – that would help you be prepared for Monday’s presentation.

LA:  We are starting a unit in Poetry and Photography

Social:  Environmental Worldview:  Part A of Alberta Tomorrow (Google classroom – Social).  Students worked on these questions today in class.

Math:  No homework

April 18

Thank you for signing and returning the 2 consent forms:  1. Camp #4 and #5, 2. Financial Literacy at SAIT.

If your child has not yet brought these forms in – please ask them to check their backpacks – the forms should be there.

Math: Algebra is going well.  The more students practice the more confident and better they are doing.  Tonights homework is the Chapter Review (pages400 – 401 #4-15),  I have also put a Worksheet on Google Classroom that they should work on.  The unit test will be next week on Tuesday.

Science: We are starting our light and optics unit.  I have an optometrist coming to class to do a presentation on the human eye on April 30th, and a “lets talk Science” presentation on light in May.

Social/Sci: Alberta Tomorrow:  ask your child to show you the Alberta Tomorrow website.  It is a great simulation program about land use – we will be working with this program for our Environmental Worldview unit for Social Studies and Science.

Students should be thinking about their Environmental Action Project – we will be starting this next week.

Social: Students did a fantastic job on the Aztec city model project and their presentation of their learning to other classes was insightful and well prepared.

LA: there are some students who have not yet handed in their Outsiders novel questions, the Outsiders “book vs movie” written assignment nor their field journal.    Read Read Read #4 due April 28
